PHOTOGRAPHS ARE THE TANGIBLE CELEBRATION OF BEING ALIVE
Where It Started
I’m Jenna Mae, a film photographer and Super 8 film maker servicing Georgian Bay, Muskoka, Toronto and wherever love takes us. I’m here for the salt-of-the earth people, the kind and playful, and the weirdos. My approach is deeply collaborative. I require trust and presence from my clients to capture the raw and heartfelt moments that make each story unique.
For more than half my life, I’ve had a camera consistently in hand, capturing the people, emotions, and moments that matter most. My earliest rolls of film consisted of my mom’s flower gardens, the family dogs, life on the farm, and the people I love. Ultimately, my innate curiosity of people is at the heart of everything I do and I feel most alive when there is a camera in my hands.
My love for film photography took off in high school when a film photography course introduced me to the magic of developing my own prints in the darkroom. After that, my dad gifted me a used Nikon F60, and I was hooked. It wasn’t until my mid-twenties that I found my way to weddings. Drawn to the raw emotion and celebration of love, I knew I had to be part of it. I later taught myself digital and now here I am with over 200 weddings documented.
YOU ARE MY ART
I intentionally take on a small number of weddings each year. Fewer weddings means I show up fully. I'm not there to direct a production. I'm there to disappear into your day, notice what matters, and bring it home to you in images that already feel like memory.
I shoot on analog film and Super 8 because some moments deserve a medium that slows down. That grain, that warmth, that permanence — it's not a filter. It's the real thing. If you've been drawn to that look your whole life, you already know. This is for you.
My approach is deeply collaborative and built on trust. I need you present, and I need you to let yourself be seen — just as you are, just as you feel.
MY HEART
I’m free spirited, quirky, an awkward joke-maker, a collector. I rarely wear shoes in the summertime and I often kick them off when I’m shooting. I’m a bookworm and a true crime nerd. Whenever I drive the music is cranked. I tell my people I love them often and believe the world is a better place when we do.
I’m a lover of people, freedom, the wind, the sun, the rain and all the beauty this life has to offer. I thrive on making people laugh to help them break out of their shells. If you feel good, I feel good.
When I’m not shooting you can find me in a forest with my dog Winnie (aka Mini), swimming in Georgian Bay, lazily kayaking, or travelling somewhere (likely solo).
