I’m Jenna Mae. A Tay Township, ON based photographer and videographer capturing weddings since 2017. I’m a lover of love, expression, people and wilderness. I thrive on intimate moments and moody light. My favourite work companion is the sun, and nothing makes me happier than documenting couples and their one-of-a-kind love for one another.
My fascination with photography and videography peaked in high school. After a film photography course taught me the full process of exposing a photo from a negative, my dad bought me a used Nikon F60 and I was hooked. It wasn’t until I needed a new creative challenge in college when I started filming weddings. I was so drawn to the expression and celebration of love through that medium and had to get involved. My favourite part of shooting weddings is making people feel beautiful and confident — especially when they’ve never been filmed or rarely have their photo taken.
I love the people I get to meet, all of the hidden gems I get to see, and getting creative with raw moments. My goal is to establish a genuine connection with all of my clients, their friends and families. Ultimately I want to create something beautiful that speaks to your relationship. I give people the space to be themselves. I want to photograph you just as you are and just as you feel. You can expect to get quiet and intimate, silly and dance-y, and just straight up weird during our shoot together. Forget about what you’re wearing. Let’s go explore.
When I’m not shooting you can find me drinking copious amounts of coffee, drawing on my eyebrows, and swimming in Georgian Bay… and then reapplying my eyebrows.
Do you offer packages that offer both photography and videography?
At the moment it is just me running my business and I am physically incapable of doing both simultaneously.
Do you edit all of your own work?
Absolutely. I don’t send anything out until I’m in love with it.
For wedding videography, do you give your clients all of the raw footage as well?
I don’t feel comfortable doing so as it’s not a true representation of my work. As an alternative, I include a "Deleted Scenes" Reel in both of my packages to make sure all of the hilarious/sweet/emotional moments that do not make the final cut are sent out into the world. I also record all Speeches. It's colour corrected, the audio is nice and it's all right there for you at the click of a button.
What do you feel sets you apart from other videographers?
The most important thing for me as a videographer is that my clients feel comfortable and confident on their big day. I have been told that I am like a fly on the wall searching for natural and candid moments to make your wedding video unique. I feel like this quality helps my clients feel less overwhelmed, especially if they are uncomfortable being on camera. I know what photographing weddings is like and pride myself on my ability to work alongside photographers as the videographer. I'm incredibly easy going, enjoy working off the cuff and have the ability to problem solve and remain positive. Ultimately, my goal is to create something that my couples want to watch on loop for years to come. I strive to make every wedding video timeless and unique to every couple.
What do you feel sets you apart from other photographers?
As the photographer, I love giving direction that speaks to my couples’ personalities and making the most out of a location. I love knowing that my clients trust me full heartedly to make creative decisions. I definitely thrive off movement, energy, earth tones, and natural light to create a free and whimsical vibe for my photography. I love to capture my subjects just as they are and just as they feel.
What do you require upon booking?
Once we’ve gotten to know each other and know we’re a good fit, I require a non-refundable Reservation Deposit and the signing of my contract to consider the wedding/session booked.
How will I receive my photographs/video?
Photographs are sent to you through an online gallery which you will be invited to via email. You will be able to download the high resolution photographs from there. For videography, I post the final cut to Vimeo and mail out a USB with everything on it.
Do you work with a second shooter/assistant?
At this point in time I don’t usually bring along assistants unless it has been requested by the couple or the schedule of the day is tight and it has been discussed beforehand. It is recommended for weddings of 150+ guests to request a second shooter to ensure moments aren’t missed.
